If the all-new Focus ST road makes its worldwide production debut, Ford of Europe is a reception at the Frankfurt Motor Show a special motorsport counterpart – the race-tweaked, production is based on the Focus ST-R.

Despite the similarity with the Focus ST road car, the Focus ST-R is built for the track by Ford Racing in North America as a fully prepared race car. It has a powerful 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, roll cage, FIA rules, promoted brakes and track-tuned suspension.

It will soon be available for the teams, starting in North America in a variety of racing series.

Technical Support Global Ford Performance Vehicles-Group – - able, in a variety of series, including Grand-Am ST, World Challenge TC and the Canadian competition, the new Focus ST-R is made by engineers from Ford Racing Touring Car Series. Ford also hopes the team will auto racing series in the main European and major national events like the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.Its conjunction with the new Focus ST road race is no coincidence.

“From the beginning, the new Focus and the Focus ST are designed to be car drivers,” said Jost Capito, Director of Global Performance Motorsports Vehicles and Business Development. “The roads Focus has best-in-class braking, handling and drives thedesign and functionality of the various vehicle systems have helped us become a global technical specification for the teams to develop the new Ford Focus cost-effective way race. Ford Racing North America has this effort and developed the new Focus ST and R is a perfect example of how big a production vehicle inspired a competitive race car enthusiast. ”

First, for the U.S. and Canada touring cars approved, Focus ST-R will be available for the hardcore order of Ford dealers in North America by experienced professional drivers, amateur racers and track day enthusiasts, too. Ford’s vision is to expand availability to other regions in the future. “We are pleased that the taking of the Focus ST-R from concept to reality for motor sports enthusiasts, especially in North America and possibly the world,” said Jamie Allison, manager, Ford Racing. “The last turn-key race cars, we have developed for the North American races are very successful, so we are confident that the ST-R is the first car for the World Series and as a direct result of the global operating platform strategy and our technical support program for motorsport applications by Focus and Fiesta models.

“This is a competitive advantage turnkey race car that our customers successfully compete in several series around the globe with minor modifications possible. It shows the continuous tuning of Ford Racing Performance Vehicles with our development department.”

“Because of the Focus ST-R is a production based road racing, the stock body panels and parts where possible production functions,” adds Allison. “People who get to buy one a fully prepared race cars, the only communication equipment and customer racing decals. We have great interest in this vehicle established by many race teams.”
